Universal Acclaim and Metacritic

[edit]

Is it fair to say this season has received universal acclaim when those reviews were written back in October? No it is not. Certainly not when the season has been widely ridiculed as it has developed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.171.46.40 (talk) 13:31, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That is the Metacritic analysis for the season which is used by consensus for all TV shows. More specific criticisms can be handled in the episode articles. --SubSeven (talk) 18:01, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've certainly read plenty of references recently to how the second season of this series was panned by many reviewers. Looking at the Metacritic page, it also seems only to have included a small range of US reviews. Even if it was relying on a wider range, we should not be using its internal term of art "universal acclaim" unattributed and unexplained anyway, not least since in general use that phrase has a specific meaning and sets a bar which is, in fact, unlikely to ever be met. Unfortunately citing it in this pseudo-factual and POV way seems to be standard practice across hundreds of TV show and music pages. N-HH talk/edits 16:47, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
